TEHRAN – Dependence on dollar in international trade is no longer conducive to a growth in regional economies or global development, said Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.
Asian countries have come to conclusion that using dollar in their trades will not benefit them and that Asia can manage the world economy, Mottaki said in a meeting with his Congolese counterpart Basile Ikouebe here on Tuesday.Economists have estimated that the rising economies of China and India with more than 2 billion population will shift the leadership of the world economy from the West to East.
Signing MOUs
Also, the two ministers signed two memorandums of understanding under which Iran and the Republic of Congo will establish political advisory committees and develop bilateral economic ties.
The top Iranian diplomat called for creating a proper opportunity to involve the private sectors of the two countries.
Iran is ready to share its experiences in fields of oil, gas, agriculture, fishery and auto-industry with Congo, he said, adding the Congolese diplomats can receive trainings in Tehran.
Mottaki also said the world has changed and that is why the U.S. today is talking of “change”, a reference to President Obama’s slogan of change during his campaign promises.
The U.S. has adopted a new stance as it had never experienced such economic meltdown since the Great Depression, he added.
Ikouebe, for his part, said that both countries’ leaders are determined to expand relations.
His country intends to use Iran’s experiences in oil, gas, fishery, transportation, wood industry, forestry and agriculture.
He invited Mottaki to his country for further talks between the two countries
