TEHRAN -- Chinese style blue-and-white ceramic dishes from Iran are currently on display at the Beijing Capital Museum in China. The dishes were transferred from Iran to China for the exhibition last month.

Chinese style blue-and-white ceramic dishes were made by Iranian potters inspired by Chinese porcelain. They were painted with white slip or cut through to the stone-paste body to produce a white design that contrasts with the monochrome background.
The earliest blue and white ceramic ware was most likely manufactured in Gorgan. Kerman was another important center as early as the 15th century. During the Safavid period, blue and white production increased there, and such wares were exported not only to Europe but also to East Africa.
On the sidelines of the exhibit, a collection of 73 Chinese style blue-and-white ceramic dishes are on display during a three-month exhibit at the museum out of which six pieces were transferred from Iran to china.
Located in the Confucius Temple, the Beijing Capital Museum holds hundreds of different exhibitions concerning history, cultural relics, revolutionary history and folk customs. Moreover, it also holds different types of exhibitions in Japan, America, Singapore, Malaysia and other countries, so that it carrys forward Chinese culture and expands international communication. The exhibits receive the attention of and are warmly welcomed by foreign and domestic visitors.
