TEHRAN – Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Deputy Chairman on Monday dismissed speculations about possible cooperation between Iran and NATO forces in Afghanistan, saying “We basically do not accept the presence of NATO in Afghanistan.”

Esmaeil Kosari told the Mehr News Agency that Tehran would never grant NATO forces permission to ship military or non-military equipment via Iran.
Any cooperation with NATO in Afghanistan would in fact be supporting the “massacre of Afghan people” and such aids might be used to equip anti-revolutionary forces against Iran, he pointed out.
NATO has long viewed the route between Iran's Gulf of Oman port of Chabahar and Afghanistan as an alternative to funneling in supplies via Pakistan, which is also facing a violent Taliban insurgency
