TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki announced here on Tuesday that Iran and Gabon have signed four agreements.

According to these agreements, both countries will reopen their embassies, allow visa-free travel for their political officials, increase periodical talks between their foreign ministries, and establish a joint economic committee, Mottaki told a press conference with his Gabonese counterpart Paul Toungui.
Mottaki added Tehran-Libreville ties have not been at a satisfactory level since the closure of their embassies.
The presence of Iranian investors and economic activists in Africa will bring about economic advantages to both Iran and African countries, he added.
He also pointed to the planned Iran-Africa presidential summit and thanked Toungui for his positive view toward the conference.
The conference will review new avenues for cooperation between Iran and Africa and discuss ways to increase Iranian companies’ participation in building energy plants, dams, factories, and manufacturing tractors and cars in Gabon, he added.
Mottaki said Toungui’s visit to Tehran opened a new chapter in cooperation between the two countries.
The Gabonese official, for his part, said his country welcomes cooperation with Iran in different areas.
