Iranian cartoonist awarded at Turkish contest

TEHRAN -- Iranian cartoonist Ali Kashi was awarded at the Drought and Water Cartoon Contest March 2009 in Turkey.
Ali Kashi won third prize at the gala while the first and second prizes went to artists from the Ukraine.
Niavaran to host teahouse painting exhibit
TEHRAN -- A collection of teahouse paintings will go on display during an exhibit at the Niavaran Cultural Center beginning June 8.
A total of 45 prized paintings with religious and literary themes kept at the museum’s teahouse will go on display during the exhibit.
TMCA to screen De Palma’s “Redacted”
TEHRAN -- Brian De Palma’s “Redacted” will go on screen at the cinematheque of the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art (TMCA) on June 10.
Produced in 2007 in the United States, the film is a fictional drama loosely based on the Mahmudiyah killings in Iraq. This film, which is a companion to an earlier film by De Palma, 1989's Casualties of War, was shot in Jordan..
