TEHRAN -- A group painting exhibition by THR-FRA/FRA-THR displaying artwork by Iranian and German artists will open at Tehran’s Mah-e Mehr Gallery on July 7.
The exhibition features three Iranian artists, Iman Afsarian, Vahid Hakim and Elaheh Heidari together with Michael Hakimi who lives and works in Berlin, and the artist Jörg Ahrnt who lives and works in Frankfurt.Jörg Ahrnt is also the curator of THR-FRA/FRA-THR which was first held in Frankfurt last year.
The Tehran exhibit depicts modern compositions in the drawings by Elaheh Heidari, European realism in works by Iman Afsarian, and also shows traces of minimalism observed in works by Vahid Hakim.
And Michael Hakimi’s works are inspired by information signs installed at different halls of the Museum for Islamic Art in Berlin.
“Since 2005 my drawings refer to a colored drawing that probably can be traced back to the 14th century and is named “river-landscape.” This drawing has remained a mystery for decades, even for Orientalists since it seems to be simultaneously influenced by Persian and Chinese art,” artist Ahrnt explained about his work in the Frankfurt exhibit.
Jörg Ahrnt was born 1965 in Darmstadt, Germany. He studied fine arts at the Design Academy in Offenbach and the sculptural department of the University Columbia in Montreal, Canada.
The exhibit will continue until July 21 at the gallery located at No.7, Nilufar St., off Africa Ave.
