TEHRAN – Human error caused the air accident at Mashhad’s Shahid Hasheminejad Airport, Flight Standard Department’s director Faramarz Sarvi announced on Saturday.

On July 24, a passenger plane with 153 aboard skidded on the runaway at Mashhad Airport and hit the airport fence, leaving 16 dead and 31 injured.
The examination of the FDR (Flight Data Recorder) and CVR (Cockpit Voice Recorder) and other parameters including, the accident scene and the contacts between the pilot and the control tower shortly before the incident occured, showed that human error was the cause of the accident, Sarvi told reporters.
He stated that the pilot did not follow the instruction on landing and the plane landed at a high speed so the pilot lost the control then the plane skidded away and hit the airport fence.
Human error causes 90 percent of the air accidents around the world, he added.
Sarvi also said the cause of the Qazvin air accident will probably be announced in a few days, but added that so far no evidence of an explosive device has been found, although such a possibility cannot be ruled out.
