TEHRAN – Vocal legislator Ali Motahari has called on the Judiciary to prosecute all instrumental figures behind the 2009 sedition.

In a letter to Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani, Motahari stated that prosecution of the seditionists would verify the independence of the Judiciary.
Instead of dealing with people behind the unrest of 2009 presidential elections, efforts have been made to alienate the public, the letter said.
This approach does not sound appropriate, because people are either guilty of a crime and should be put on trial and receive proper punishment, or they are innocent and must be able to exercise all their civil rights, it added
