Australian festival to screen “Parasite”

TEHRAN -- The animation “Parasite” by Iranian director Omid Khoshnazar will go on screen at the Melbourne International Animation Festival in Australia.
A joint production of Iran’s Art Bureau and the Lucerne International Animation Academy (LIAA), the animation depicts a juvenile war game that a bored soldier engages in while passing his time on guard duty in a guard tower near a distant border.
The festival, which will be held from June 20 to 26, is one of the largest animation festivals in the world. It aims to challenge and inspire audiences with thematic, aesthetic and technical diversity from award winners, outstanding industry veterans and promising newcomers.
Iranian doc awarded at Czech festival
TEHRAN -- Iranian documentary “Iran, Southwestern” was awarded at the International Film Festival TUR Ostrava, Czech.
Directed by Mohammadreza Fartusi, the film received an honorable mention at the festival. It tells the story of Al-Azim marshland, which is gradually drying up, and looks at the last residents living in the marsh.
The International Film Festival TUR Ostrava follows the traditions of another similar festival about our living environment – Ekofilms, which moved from Ostrava a number of years ago..
