TEHRAN – The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman has said that former Iranian ambassador Ghazanfar Roknabadi, who is among those who have gone missing after the Mecca stampede, has made his trip to Hajj using a regular passport.

Some Arab media outlets have claimed the former Iranian ambassador to Lebanon had traveled through non-official routes to Saudi Arabia under a fake ID.

Marzieh Afkham stated that detailed information of all Iranian pilgrims including Roknabadi is currently available to Saudi authorities, Mehr reported Monday.

“Roknabadi’s passport is sealed with a Hajj visa and according to the received information, since he has gone missing like many other Iranians in the Mina incident, his information has been handed to Saudi officials,” she explained.

On the same day, Mehr released a video of Roknabadi speaking to Iranian pilgrims during this year’s Hajj rituals in Mecca.
