TEHRAN – Tehran’s concert halls will resume performances a few days after Muharram and Safar, the lunar months during which normal musical performances are halted in Iran due to the mourning ceremonies for the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions.

The Rhetoric Orchestra led by Reza Marivand will begin its concert at Niavaran Cultural Center on December 15, performing a selection of classic songs and film music compositions, the Persian service of ILNA reported on Saturday.

Vahdat Hall will be playing host to the ensemble Khonya led by Pari Maleki on December 18. The band will give a benefit concert to raise funds for the Ra’d Charity Organization, a Tehran-based center for the disabled.

Baroque, an Iranian ensemble led by singer and guitarist Alireza Sadri, will perform concerts at Tehran’s Negarestan Garden Museum from December 16 to 18.

Pianist Puyan Azadeh will be giving a solo performance in Rudaki Hall on December 27, and also on the same date Azadi Tower will be hosting a pop music program by the Iranian band Piclavier.

The Hamavayan Ensemble led by tar and setar virtuoso Hossein Alizadeh will give concerts with singer Mohammad Motamedi on December 27, 28 and 29 at Milad Tower.

Also included are several concerts exclusively for women during the coming weeks.

Rastan Ensemble by Azadeh Amiri Tabar will give a concert at Niavaran on January 1. Niavaran will also be hosting a performance of Iranian traditional and local songs by the Kaliveh Ensemble on January 4 and 5.

Veteran singer Simin Ghanem will give a performance at Vahdat Hall on January 8, 14, and 15.
