TEHRAN – The juries for the official and documentary sections of the 34th Fajr Film Festival were announced on Tuesday.

The jury for the official section is composed of Abolhassan Davudi, Mohammad Davudi, Mojtaba Raei, Seyyed Jamal Sadatian, Manuchehr Shahsavari, Mehdi Fakhimzadeh and Niki Karimi.

“The Bodyguard”, a political drama by Ebrahim Hatamikia; “The Daughter”, a family drama by Reza Mirkarimi, the director of the acclaimed drama “A Cube of Sugar”, “Breathe”, a war film by Narges Abyar; and “Lanturi”, a social drama by Reza Dormishian are among the movies that will be vying for a Crystal Simorgh.

Mohammadreza Aslani, Ahmad Zabeti, Mahvash Sheikholeslami, Moin Karimoddini and Amir Tajik are the members of the jury for documentary film section.

Eleven films will compete in the Cinéma Vérité Section, which is dedicated to documentary movies.

“Zmnako”, Mehdi Qorbanpur’s acclaimed documentary about a victim of Iraq’s chemical weapons attack on the Kurdish city of Halabja in 1988, is one of the films.

The section also will screen “A 157”, Iranian filmmaker Behruz Nuranipur’s tragedy about three Kurdish girls who became pregnant after being raped by members of ISIS.

In addition, Loqman Khaledi’s “Pruning Season”, which is about an Iranian man who tries to prove his claim of having produced a drug against cancer, will also be screened in this section.

The 34th Fajr Film Festival will be held in Tehran from February 1 to 11.
