TEHRAN -- The first phase of a museum named Women in Sacred Defense (Iran-Iraq war, 1980-1988) is to be opened in the city of Ahwaz, Khuzestan province.

The place of the museum has been a laundry in which women used to wash the cloths of Iranian soldiers in the period of war, ISNA reported.

Creation of the museum was an idea developed by the mother of a martyr and some other women in Khuzestan province aiming at commemorating the women martyred during the war and marking the role of women in the Sacred Defense.

The museum includes three phases. The first phase will probably be inaugurated on the occasion of the Liberation of Khorramshahr (May 24).
