Speaking to the Persian service of ISNA here on Tuesday, he said “I have always been interested in the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York as an architect. I was deeply impacted by the tragic incident at the time of its occurrence and created the digital paintings that same year in 2001.”
“I have always liked to showcase the digital paintings I have produced in commemoration of September 11 in Iran. This is part of a large collection named ‘A Prelude to the Third Millennium’”, he added.
Omidvar is a graduate of the School of Art and Architecture from the University of Tehran, a diploma in architecture from Beaux Arts and Urban planning in Institute d'urbanisme de Paris.
“We as ordinary people believe in boosting friendship with people all over the world, considering it our cultural and Islamic responsibility. And as an artist, I made my best efforts to express my friendship with the people in the world through my paintings,” Omidvar said.
“I believe this tragic incident is one of the worst in history. Over the past decades, explosion and massacre of people have turned into something ordinary in the world. Actually, ever since man discovered dynamite, it has been abused for taking revenge,” he added.
In 2007, Omidvar displayed his collection “Do Not Forget September 11” on the streets of Paris at La Cite Internationale des Arts at Montparnasse.
Omidvar has also created artworks on the themes of “Imam Ali (AS)” and “Prophet Muhammad(S)” and has designed a digital painting entitled “The Commemoration of Martyrs” for the Municipality of Tehran.
