U.S. angry with Iran for thwarting its policies: Leader

October 19, 2011 - 17:53
altKANGAVAR, Kermanshah Province - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has said that the United States is angry with Iran because the Islamic Republic has played a major role in thwarting U.S. policies, particularly in the region.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in an address to thousands of well-wishers in the city of Kangavar, in the western Iranian province of Kermanshah, on Wednesday.

“The devils are aware that the eyes of the awakened nations of the region are on our beloved country. Therefore, they are using every method and all of their capabilities so that Iran and Iranians will not become a model for the great Islamic awakening movement and the Iranian nation’s line of resistance will not be followed by other nations,” the Leader stated.

The enemy is consumed by anger because Iran, under the banner of the Islamic Revolution, has become a country which has stood up to the hegemonistic powers, he added.

Ayatollah Khamenei also said that the enemies have been conducting a propaganda campaign against the Islamic Republic through “blowing weaknesses out of proportion” and “playing down achievements.”

He advised Iranian officials and media outlets to refrain from taking measures that would help advance the enemies’ interests, adding that the country’s officials should make every effort to remedy shortcomings and resolve the people’s problems.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader said, “The enemies are seeking to demolish the strong wall of the nation and obstruct their steady and promising movement.”

“Our beloved nation, which has gotten through difficult stretches of the path they have chosen with glory and strength, will not be satisfied with their achievements and will successfully pass through the stages ahead with unity, hope, and perseverance,” he stated.

“Becoming satisfied with short-term achievements and abandoning the hope of attaining the ultimate goals” are two great dangers that could hinder the progress of the Iranian nation, he added.

“(But) the great nation of Iran will not stop in the middle of the path of prosperity, progress, and glory… and will firmly continue on their path,” the Leader said.

National unity is the key to progress, he stated, adding, “There is unity among the people from all walks of life and between the people and officials,” but it should be strengthened.

Ayatollah Khamenei also said that the Islamic establishment has pinned its hopes on the country’s informed, educated, and revolutionary youth.
