Russian club Rubin Kazan signed Alireza Haghighi from Persepolis on a four-year contract on Saturday. The 23-year-old keeper is the first Iranian who joins a Russian club. The deal is reportedly worth €950,000.
Haghighi made an impressive debut for Persepolis after saving Saipa striker Ali Daei’s penalty kick in 2006.
Haghighi will wear jersey number 88 in Rubin Kazan.
“I have to prove myself in the team. I’ll do my best to be in the lineup. I talked to Rubin Kazan coach (Kurban Berdyev) and he appreciated the Iranians and I am proud to be an Iranian,” Haghighi said.
