TEHRAN – The Iranian Navy has saved a U.S. cargo ship from pirate attacks in the Gulf of Oman, the Navy said in a press release on Thursday.
An Iranian warship responded to a distress signal from the U.S.-flagged Maersk Texas, a cargo ship of 150 meters and 14,000 tons, which was besieged by “several pirate boats,” the Navy said, according to AFP.
The ship’s crew thanked the Iranian Navy for the timely response.
