TEHRAN – The secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has said that the Islamic Republic’s nuclear achievements are the “fruit of resistance” against the illogical demands of the West.

SNSC Secretary Saeed Jalili made the remarks during a meeting with the senior member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Maher Taher, in Tehran on Monday.

He highlighted the need for increased unity between various Palestinian groups to help strengthen the resistance front against the Zionist regime and said, “Victories have been the result of resistance.”

He also said, “Acquiring (the technology) to produce 20 percent enriched uranium to meet the needs of one million cancer patients for indigenized radioisotopes is the fruit of (Iran’s) resistance against the illogical demands of the West.”

Commenting on the Islamic Awakening occurring in certain regional countries, Jalili said, “In this atmosphere, the dominant discourse should be the liberation and defense of Palestine.”

The popular resistance movement in Palestine should be a source of inspiration for all Muslims and freedom-seeking people in the world, he said, adding that the Islamic Republic will support Palestine’s initiatives for resistance.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he said that Iran regards it as an obligation to support the Palestinian resistance movement in its campaign against the Zionist regime.

Taher thanked Iran for supporting the Palestinian nation and expressed hope that the Islamic Awakening would lead to the liberation of Palestine.
