Pablo Larraian’s “The Club” up for review in Tehran

TEHRAN – Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraian’s social drama “The Club” will go on screen at the Cinematheque of the Niavaran Cultural Center in Tehran on August 6.

Iranian film critic Ali Masudinia is scheduled to conduct a review session following a screening of the movie, which took home the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize of the 65th Berlin International Film Festival in 2015.

“The Club” is about a group of ex-priests now hiding out in a modest house on the outskirts of a small Chilean beach town.

The real reason emerges when a rumpled fisherman appears outside describing loudly and in mindboggling detail the sexual grotesqueries to which he was subjected as a child by one of their number.
