Adaptation of “Macbeth” to go on stage in Tehran

TEHRAN – Yerma, an Iranian theater troupe led by director Neda Hengami, plans to perform a play based on English playwright William Shakespeare’s tragedy “Macbeth”.
The play titled “Midday of Scotland” will premiere at Tehran’s Arghanun Theater on September 15.
“Macbeth” is the story of a Scottish general named Macbeth who is been told by some witches that one day he will become king of Scotland. Consumed by ambition and spurred to action by his wife, he murders King Duncan and takes the Scottish throne for himself.
Negar Berelian, Sheida Dopeikar, Peyman Rezai and Amir Samiei are the main members of the cast for the play, which will be on stage until October 16.
