TEHRAN – Two troupes composed of members from Iran, Germany and Italy will stage two plays in the international competition section of the 23rd International Children and Young Adults Theater Festival, which will be held in Hamedan, Iran from December 11 to 17.

The Iranian-German troupe, which will be jointly directed by Jafar Mahyari from Iran and Britta Schramm from Germany, will perform a mime entitled “The Border”.

Written by Mahyari, the play tells the story of a conflict between two groups living on opposite sides of a borderline.

Saeid Abbak and Anahita Safikhani from Iran, and Bernd Stollberger and Kristina Forster from Germany are the members of the cast.

“1+1” will be staged by Iranian director Omid Niaz and his Italian colleague Guglielmo Papa.

The play is about two people who set boundaries between themselves in an isolated land. The boundaries impose limitations to their lives and consequently they give up and begin to help each other.
