Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers sit top of Asia

Iranian Greco-Roman wrestling team claimed the title of the Asian Championship in New Delhi, India on Thursday.

Iran won the Asian Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship for 11th times.

The Iranian team claimed the title with 69 points, winning four gold medals, one silver and two bronzes.

South Korea and Kazakhstan came second and third respectively with 59 points.  

Ramin Taheri (80kg), Hossein Nouri (85kg), Mostafa Salehizadeh (98kg) and Behnam Mehdizadeh (130kg) won four gold medals for Iran.

Afshin Biabangard bagged a silver medal in the 71kg. Saman Abdevali in 59kg and Ali Arsalan in 66kg claimed two bronze medals respectively.

The 2017 Asian Wrestling Championships are being held at the KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium, Indira Gandhi Arena, New Delhi in India from May 10 to 14.
