Pakistani FM to visit Iran over new U.S. strategy

TEHRAN – Pakistani Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif will visit Iran, China, Russia and Turkey for consultations on the new American policy for Afghanistan and South Asia, IRNA reported.

Last week, in announcing his new strategy for the war in Afghanistan, U.S. President Donald Trump rebuked Pakistan, describing is as a “safe haven” for terrorist organizations such as the Taliban.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry denounced Trump’s comments, saying terrorism is the outcome of Washington’s wrong and irrational policies over the years in the region.
