TEHRAN – Iran’s Customs Administration seized 24 tons of narcotics, including natural and synthetic drugs, during the Persian month of Aban (Oct. 23 to Nov. 21), IRIB news reported.

According to the report, the drugs were seized in 16 different operations.

During the same period, the customs confiscated some 73 kilograms of opium. Customs’ officers seized the illicit drugs that were tucked into different products, including hair brushes, books, headphones and toys.

Neighboring Afghanistan produces some 90% of the world's opium, which is extracted from poppy resin and refined to make heroin.
