IRIB renames Ghazali Cinema Town

TEHRAN – The Ghazali Cinema Town, which represents old Tehran in many historical movies and TV series, has been renamed the Iran Cinema and Television Town.

The decision to rename the town was made by Abdol-Ali Ali-Asgari, the director of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), which is the owner of the place, the director of the town, Kamal Feizabadi, announced on Saturday.

Busts of the five stars of “Hezar Dastan”, Ali Hatami’s  popular TV series that was filmed in the town during the 1980s, are due to be set up in the town, he added.

Jamshid Mashayekhi, Ezzatollah Entezami, Mohammad-Ali Keshavarz, Ali Nasirian and Davud Rashidi are the five actors.

Sculptures of Hatami and actor Khosro Shakibai, make-up artist Abdollah Eskandari and other film celebrities will also be set up in the near future.
