Charity foundation raises budget for children, pregnant, breastfeeding mums

TEHRAN — The Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation has boosted budget for underprivileged children, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers who suffer from malnutrition, Mehr reported on Tuesday.

The foundation increased the budget by 30 percent to address malnutrition in children aging under 5 as well as breastfeeding mothers and pregnant women who are financially disadvantaged for the next Iranian calendar year, which starts on March 21.

The budget jumped from 910 billion rials (nearly $20 million) to 1.18 trillion rials (nearly $26 million) for the next year, said Mirhashem Mousavi, an official at the foundation.

The Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation is a charitable organization founded in March 1979 to provide support for poor families. The aim is to help such families regain financial stability.
