Iranian, Japanese films share award at Spain Moving Images Festival
TEHRAN – Iranian director Abed Abest’s movie “Simulation” and Japanese director Yui Kiyohara’s debut “Our House” shared the award for best feature-film at the 3rd Spain Moving Images Festival on Saturday.
“Simulation” is about three bored young men who decide to pay a visit to an older man they only know vaguely, but the old man turns a gun on them as he thinks they’ve come to burgle him.
“Our House” tells the story of Seri, an adolescent girl who lives with her mother in an old house in a coastal town. Seemingly in the very same house, amnesiac Sana is taken in by Toko, a young woman who harbors secrets of her own. As the parallel stories unfold, the boundaries between these two worlds grow increasingly porous.
The award for best short went to “Bangkok Dystopia” by Patipol Teekayuwat from Thailand, and “The Starry Night” by Lee Jonghoon from South Korea won the best animated film award.
The Spain Moving Images Festival took place in Madrid from June 22 to 30.
