Iran runners-up at IBSA Powerlifting World Championships

TEHRAN – Iran finished in second place at the 2018 International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Powerlifting and Bench Press World Championships.
The Persian powerlifters won 10 gold medals and six bronzes in the competition and came second with 68 points.
Ukraine won the title with 69 points and Russia finished in third place with 52 points.
The championships attracted 70 athletes from 13 countries together from Nov. 13 to 16. in Luxor, Egypt.
Powerlifting is a sport for all blind and visually impaired athletes.
Athletes are categorized by sex, age and bodyweight. Each competitor is allowed three attempts at each lift, the best lift in each discipline being added to their overall total.
The lifter with the highest total in their respective age and weigh class will be declared the winner. In cases where two or more lifters achieve the same total, the person with the lightest bodyweight wins
