TEHRAN – The Iranian Army Ground Force has been tasked with ensuring security along border with Afghanistan, the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forced announced on Monday.

“We will definitely have safer borders than before,” Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri told reporters, Tasnim reported.

Iranian forces along the eastern and southeastern border areas are frequently attacked by terrorist groups coming from Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Tehran has repeatedly asked the two neighbors to step up security at the common borders to prevent terrorist attacks on Iranian forces.
