TEHRAN – Ali Shamkhani, the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, said on Wednesday that Iran will wipe the floor with Donald Trump, who has imposed sanctions against Tehran after exiting the 2015 nuclear agreement.

Relying on domestic capacities, the Islamic Republic will successfully fend off the U.S. pressure campaign, which is aimed to overthrow the Islamic Republic from within, ISNA reported.

The U.S. is seeking to foment discord between the Iranian leadership and the people, but its plot has clearly backfired and led to a greater national unity against U.S. bullying, he added.

“This has made them angry, and that’s why they behave irrationally,” noted Shamkhani.
