TEHRAN On the occasion of the screening of the Iranian film Color of God by director Majid Majidi in Britain, most of British newspapers favorably reviewed and praised the film. Daily Telegraph, reviewing the film, wrote, "Like the previous cases, the story of the film seems to be very sad and regrettable, but on the screen Color of God is very dynamic, deep and surprisingly beautiful." "Majidi's cinema has managed to successfully portray the rural beauties in the best possible manner. The performances are also very remarkable. If you want to see a magnificent artistic film this month, this is it," the daily added. The Guardian dealt with Color of God in more details than other British newspapers.
In addition to an article it published two weeks ago about Iranian cinema, The Guardian in its Friday edition published a review about Color of God. It is also the only British daily which advertised this film.
According to the review published by The Guardian, the rapid growth of Iranian cinema has turned the Iranian streets and villages into familiar sites for film fans across the world. Referring to Color of God, the daily's film reviewer emphasized that Majidi's latest film is very outstanding in terms of its beautiful colors, magnificent location, accurate sound effect and strong performance of its leading actor. He added that after nomination of Children of Heaven for Oscar Prize, Majidi's works have made considerable progress.
Moreover, the Scotland-based daily Scotsman and London-based daily The Times recently carried reviews of Color of God in which they dealt with different aspects of the film and praised Majidi's great capabilities as a screenwriter and filmmaker.
