Iranian deaf judoka Rastegar banned for two years

TEHRAN – Iranian deaf judo athlete Masoud Rastegar has been banned for two years for using a prohibited substance Letrozole.

The judo athlete is not eligible from May 29, 2022 to May 27, 2024.

Letrozole is an aromatase inhibitor, meaning that it blocks an enzyme responsible for a key step in the formation of estrogens.

Athletes who abuse anabolic steroids might use an aromatase inhibitor like letrozole to prevent the formation of estrogens, and therefore reduce or prevent the unwanted and feminizing effects of anabolic steroid use.
