An interview with Zeinab Molaei

“Don’t Miss Me”

In this book, Zeinab Molaei, who had her first published work with "Don't Miss Me," wrote about the martyr Ruhollah Qorbani. She claims it is the tale of a martyr whose desire was to die for Hazrat Zeinab (S).

* When did you begin writing the book?

After his martyrdom, I felt compelled to do something for him because he was our neighbor. And right then I saw that the characteristics of this martyr could be a great subject of novels, movies, and documentaries.

* How long did it take from the start of the interview procedure to publication?

Because some of the comrades were in Syria and the martyr's wife wasn't in a good mental state, the interviews continued for about two years. Also, occasionally as I was writing I ran out of interviews, so I continued talking and resumed writing. These reasons led to the book's three-year writing process coming to a conclusion.

* Why did you decide on the book's title, "Don't Miss Me"?

I wanted to give the book a good, creative name. This name refers to one of his wife's memories following Ruhollah's martyrdom. After his martyrdom, his wife, who really missed him, returned to their own home. When she opens the book that her husband had given her as a gift, she discovers that he had written for her on a rose leaf: "My love, don't miss me," and I thought this could be the best title for the book.

* Which age range is this book appropriate for?

Because this martyr has traits and interests that all of today's youngsters may relate to and be interested in, teens and young people can be the book's main readership.

Ruhollah Qorbani was a motivated and diligent individual who excelled in both sports and academics. He was fluent in both English and Arabic, and he had a strong sense of aesthetic and literary spirit. I suggest this book to the younger generation, for sure.
