Either All or None Should Go to UN-Sponsored IPU Confab

TEHRAN - Following its arrogant policy, the U.S. administration refused to issue a visa to an Iranian lawmaker who was due to accompany Majlis Speaker Mahdi Karrubi to New York to attend a UN-sponsored conference.
Karrubi is due to attend a conference of speakers of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) that is to start on August 30. Most political analysts believe that Speaker Karrubi should boycott the conference since the refusal of a visa to a representative of the people is a direct insult to the entire system.
UN Secretary General Kofi Annan should raise the issue before the U.S. administration and register a strong protest against the undiplomatic move by Washington.
Boroujerdi was not going to New York as a tourist.
He wanted to go to attend an international conference to discuss legal issues of a global nature.
"This is not the first time the U.S. has behaved in an irrational manner," an expert complained. "Mr. Karrubi must boycott the conference in order to teach a lesson to the U.S. administration.
Iranian lawmakers should contact other parliamentarians and prepare the ground for worldwide protest against the U.S. The U.S. administration did everything to humiliate Iranians, even sportsmen who travelled by official invitation were forced to provide fingerprints."
