The speed of de-dollarization in the world

December 24, 2023 - 22:35

TEHRAN - In a note, Kayhan discussed the frustration of pro-Western voices inside the country regarding the de-dollarization project and wrote: The interest in reducing the share of the dollar in foreign exchange is not exclusive to Iran and the sanctions situation, because, with the U.S.'s abuse of the dollar as a weapon against its opposing countries, many important countries in the world have turned to using alternative currencies, bilateral and multilateral monetary agreements.

In particular, three events are likely to lead to the acceleration of BRICS de-dollarization programs in 2024; the performance of the dollar, the design of the BRICS currency, and the increase of the bloc's members, which forms the basis of "de-dollarization". Despite the world's acceptance of de-dollarization, the Western-oriented side, who are upset with the de-dollarization project and the ineffectiveness of the sanctions, are trying to destroy and ridicule this effective and important strategy of the 13th government. By turning a blind eye to the world's experience, the media of this faction believe that "the barter of goods with some countries is no longer an achievement, but a worrisome rollback" and they have repeated this view many times in their writings and speeches; even if it is at the cost of losing great opportunities for the country.

Shargh: The war in Gaza has challenged the prestige of America
In an analysis, Shargh discussed America's false expectations of Iran. It wrote: In the last 70 days, without exception, the messages of Americans and Westerners to Iran are that Iran should control the scope and expansion of the war. According to Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian, the United States regularly demands help to stop this process; but you cannot be a side of the war and ask others not to do anything in this regard. This is not possible. At one point, the Americans asked Iran that the resistance groups should not take action against them in the region, but Iran told them several times that we have never given them an order, nor will we give them an order. America accuses Iran, while America itself is at war with Israel. This situation has challenged the prestige of America. If Iran is falsely accused today; America is not the accused, rather, it is the criminal itself, and American officials should be tried in the court of war criminals along with Israeli pilots and military, security, and political officials. Justice should rule on the behavior that America has had with Israel in the past 77 days.

Arman-e-Melli: The JCPOA is in a coma
In an article, Arman-e-Melli discussed the JCPOA and the negotiation process. The paper said: While the JCPOA is in a coma and its revival seems unlikely, Olaf Skoog, the representative of the European Union in the UN Security Council, pointed out that the nuclear agreement has a fundamental role in establishing stability in West Asia, and said that all parties to the nuclear agreement should resume talks to revive the nuclear agreement without delay. He claimed that the development of Iran's nuclear program is a "serious deviation" from JCPOA commitments. The representative of the European Union, in line with the West's claim, asked Iran to end its cooperation with Russia in the war in Ukraine. According to Hassan Beheshtipour, an international relations analyst, some people inside the U.S. are against the JCPOA, which includes the act of the U.S. House of Representatives to block Iran's freed assets in Qatar. But it is unlikely that it will get the necessary majority in the Senate. Since some Democrat senators are also against the JCPOA, especially after the events in Gaza, they are looking for excuses. There is a possibility that they want to align with the Republicans who are against the JCPOA.

Iran: The establishment of the Tehran-Cairo contact line
In a commentary, the Iran newspaper welcomed Iran's expansion of relations with the friendly and Muslim country of Egypt and said: Raisi's telephone conversation with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is an important event of diplomatic developments in the region. Although the efforts to turn on the Iran-Egypt relations have not been unaffected by the positive developments in Tehran-Riyadh relations, considering the conditions governing bilateral relations and the region, it is not possible to easily talk about reviving this relation in the short term. However, the demands of the two countries in light of the interests and goals that can be realized in the event of the resumption of the relationship are considered an important statement by the decision makers of the foreign policy of both countries. In addition to the realization of bilateral goals, this event can be an important and effective factor in West Asia. This telephone conversation seems to be an encouraging sign of the diplomatic events that are going on in the middle of the bilateral negotiations, and it shows that the two countries are closer than ever to the beginning of a new season of relations.
