TEHRAN - During a speech at the United States Military Academy’s graduation ceremony at West Point, New York, U.S. President Joe Biden publicly admitted for the first time that Iran's extensive drone and missile strikes in mid-April against Israel, in retaliation for an attack on the Iranian diplomatic mission in Syria, had the potential to severely impact the regime if American military assistance had not been provided to rescue Tel Aviv, according to IRNA citing ABC News.

Biden highlighted the current global conflicts in Europe and the Middle East, emphasizing the unprecedented demand on U.S. military forces to carry out diverse missions simultaneously across various regions, including the defense of Israel. While refraining from directly addressing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in Gaza, the president commended the swift response of the American military in aiding Tel Aviv against Iran's assault, describing it as "devastating."

On April 14th, Iran initiated a retaliatory operation named “True Promise” against Israel by launching numerous missiles and drones towards Zionist positions in the occupied territories. This action was a direct response to the Zionist regime's airstrikes on the consular section of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus earlier in the month.

Iran asserted that it had informed the United States in advance about its decision to punish the Israeli regime and notified them after successfully carrying out strikes on Israeli targets. Additionally, Iran's representative to the United Nations clarified that the military action was justified under Article 51 of the UN Charter, citing legitimate defense in response to the aggression of the Zionist regime against Iran's diplomatic premises.
