TSC revised for Iranian handicrafts

TEHRAN – The director of the commercialization department at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts has announced a revision of the Tariff Specification Codes for handicraft export from Iran.
Farzad Ojani stated on Monday that the need for accurate export statistics has prompted a re-evaluation of the Tariff Specification Codes for handicraft products after nearly a decade.
The official added that this revision was carried out with the help of experts and practitioners from both the public and private sectors.
The tariffs for 37 products, including various types of kilims, traditional textiles, leatherwork, and wooden products have been revised in the first phase.
“Such a revision will continue for other types of Iranian handicrafts in the near future.”
The TSC is an identification code designated to determine the value of exported and imported goods. In the TLC System, the valuation of goods is conducted based on categorized tariffs, allowing individuals and specialized export companies to ascertain the true value of items.
Iran’s handicraft exports, excluding jewelry and suitcase exports, reached $450 million in the past Persian year (ended on March 19), according to data collected by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts.
Currently, a selection of 13 cities and three villages in the country have been registered by the World Council of Handicrafts as global hubs of handicrafts.
