Priest Says Diana Asked Him About Marriage to Dodi

LONDON A Church of England priest has revealed Princess Diana asked him about the possibility of marrying Dodi Fayed, the Sunday People reported.
The British tabloid said Father Frank Gelli, curate at St Mary Abbots Church, 300 meters from Diana's London home at Kensington Palace, had broken a three-year silence on his talks with the late Princess of Wales.
Gelli, 56, said Diana asked him if he could conduct her wedding ceremony in the weeks before she and Dodi were killed in August 1997. Diana had struck up a friendship with the priest two months before she died, the Sunday People said.
"I honestly believe if they were alive today, they would be married," Gelli said. Diana was so very happy and very much in love. She was looking forward to the future," Gelli told the newspaper.
He said Diana had asked him repeatedly about the possibility of a mixed-religion marriage to a Muslim.
Gelli said he had kept Diana's secret for three years but now felt he had to set the record straight after new attacks on her in a book by her former private secretary Patrick Jephson.
