$50 Million Worth of Goods Exported From E.Azarbaijan

TEHRAN Some $49.851 million worth of various kinds of non-oil products have been exported from East Azarbaijan Province during the first six months of the current Iranian year, beginning March 20.
Mohammad Behboudi Ahani, a provincial customs official, told IRNA on Sunday that the figure showed a seven percent rise in terms of value and 19 percent reduction in terms of weight as compared to the corresponding period last year.
Meanwhile, 45,700 tons of goods, worth $100 million, have been imported to the country via the provincial customs departments during the same period, he added.
He further said that the Iranian products valued at $1.4 million were also exported via the border markets of this northwestern province during the same period.
In another development, Mohammad-Hassan Jamshidi, director general of the Institute of Standard and Industrial Research of the West Azarbaijan Province told IRNA Sunday that Rls.32.7 billion worth of non-oil goods have been exported from the province during the first half of the current year.
Raisin, tangerine, apples, tomato paste, henna, onion, fruit concentrates, potatoes, walnut, biscuits, date, dried apricot, pickled-hide, blankets and clothing were among major items exported to European and Asian states as well as to Australia and Iran's neighboring states, he added.
Jamshidi said that electric products and machinery parts, worth Rls.2.25 billion have also been imported to the province during the said period.
Meanwhile, Gholam-Hossein Kardoust, director general of Commerce Department of Gilan Province said on Sunday that 405,900 tons of various kinds of goods, valued at Rls.188.8 billion, were exported from that northern province during the first half of the current Iranian year.
The figures show an increase of 103 percent in terms of weight and 105 percent in terms of value as compared to the preceding year, he added.
Tomato paste, raisin, dates, fig, melon, apples, handicrafts, construction materials, mineral soil and clothing were major items exported to Central Asia and Japan.
He further said that ironware, chemical products, paper, wood, plastic and electronic products and tools were imported to the country via the provincial customs houses from Central Asian states, France, Germany, Turkey and Austria.
