"A Girl in Sneakers" Screened in Vienna

TEHRAN The Iranian film A Girl in Sneakers by director Rassoul Sadr-Ameli, which was announced as the selected film of Vienna International Film Festival "Vinale 2000", was screened at Gartenba Theater in Vienna on Friday night.
A Girl in Sneakers is the story of a 15-year-old girl named Tadaei, who is helpless in the face of some problems. Tadaei is once arrested by the police along with her male friend. After her arrest, her parents keep her under strict control, preventing her from going out. Consequently, Tadaei runs away from home.
But she comes across some tough guys in society and finally decides to return home. The director of A Girl in Sneakers has tried to portray the problems facing young boys and girls in society.
He has also tried to portray and criticize the wrong behavior of some parents toward their children. adr-Ameli was born in Isfahan. First, he worked as a reporter, but after a few years he embarked on the career of filmmaking. Elizabeth Abshel, an Austrian woman who saw the film in Vienna on Friday night, told IRNA that the director has not finished his film in an appropriate manner. "In my opinion, we should not justify the behavior of some parents like Tadaei's parents." She underlined that such problems are not limited to the Iranian society, adding that even the Austrian youngsters are beset by similar problems.
Bergita, an Austrian student of psychology, said A Girl in Sneakers was a very interesting film because it showed different aspects of people's life in Tehran.
