‘We’ll set their world on fire’: Iran's military issues warning over leadership red line
TEHRAN — Senior Iranian military commanders on Tuesday delivered a fierce rebuff to recent threats from Washington, warning that any hostile move against the Islamic Republic’s leadership or sovereignty will trigger a global response that will “set the enemy’s world on fire.”
Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, the spokesperson for the General Staff of the Armed Forces, dismissed the recent rhetorical escalations by U.S. President Donald Trump as “mere noise,” while simultaneously drawing a clear line in the sand.
“Trump knows that if a hand of aggression is extended toward our Leader [of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei], we will not only cut that hand—decisively and courageously—but we will set their world on fire and deny them any peace,” Shekarchi declared.
He emphasized that this warning is “not a slogan,” asserting that no region will remain a “safe zone” for those who target Iran.
This high-level warning follows a series of provocative statements from Trump, who recently told Politico that it was “time to look for new leadership in Iran.”
Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian warned on Sunday that any attack against Ayatollah Khamenei will amount to a “full-fledged war” with the Iranian nation.
The Iranian parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Committee responded by stating that any assault on the Leader is “a declaration of war against Islam itself,” an act that would inevitably prompt a global Jihad decree and the mobilization of the “soldiers of Islam” across the planet.
Parallel to these external threats, Brigadier General Alireza Elhami, Commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base, characterized recent domestic unrest as a “calculated hybrid war” orchestrated by a coalition of the U.S., Israel, and certain European states.
Elhami detailed how the enemy utilized hardware, software, and media intelligence to attempt a “mental and social collapse” of the nation.
General Shekarchi noted that a cornerstone of the unrest was the attempt to ignite chaos within the domestic economy.
However, he praised the nation’s guilds and merchants for their loyalty, stating they “delivered a resounding slap” to the enemy by refusing to participate in the engineered instability.
The commanders also highlighted the heavy price paid for national security. Shekarchi said that more than two-thirds of those martyred during the recent disturbances were innocent citizens murdered by foreign-backed terrorists.
He underscored the “extreme restraint” of the police and Basij forces, who he said often entered the field unarmed to ensure the safety of misguided youth—only to be brutally attacked, dismembered, or set ablaze by “satanic groups” and mercenaries.
Despite the pressure of unlawful, unilateral sanctions targeting the central bank and oil sectors, the commanders concluded that the “deep insight” and national cohesion of the Iranian people have once again forced the architects of “maximum pressure” into a strategic stalemate.
