‘Private sector fully prepared to meet country’s food needs’
TEHRAN- Stressing the full readiness of the private sector to supply the country's needs under the current circumstances, the Secretary General of the Federation of Iranian Food Associations stated: "The production capacity of Iran's food industry exceeds domestic demand, and the necessary raw materials for production over the next few months have already been secured."
In an interview with IRNA, Rashid Azizpour stated: "The production capacity of our country's food industry has always been significant, owing to the capability of agricultural production and the active presence of the private sector."
The Secretary General of the Iranian Food Associations, noting that the private sector has always been committed and stood by the people, said: "From the beginning of the imposed war until now, we have never faced a shortage of food products. Across all parts of the country, food industry products have been supplied in sufficient quantities and with great diversity for the people."
He emphasized: "This situation is the result of investments made over decades by the private sector."
Stating that the country's production capacity exceeds domestic needs, Azizpour said: "This capacity can also be used to develop exports. For this reason, the country's domestic needs, even in the current circumstances, have been met satisfactorily."
He added: "Due to their perishable nature and the need for perishable raw materials, the food industry requires the timely supply of raw materials. The raw materials needed for production for the next few months have been secured in advance, and production continues under all conditions."
The Secretary General of the Iranian Food Association stated: "The supply of raw materials for the coming months has also been carried out with prior planning."
According to him, a significant portion of the raw materials for the food industry has already been secured, and the majority of it is domestically produced. Given this production capacity, there will be no problems in the production process and supply of food in the country for the next few months.
Regarding the impact of the war on food product prices, Azizpour said: "Under the current circumstances, the increase in transportation and energy costs will have a significant effect on the market for these products."
