TEHRAN A lawyer for two victims of the 1998 serial murders of intellectuals and political dissidents was summoned to the Judicial Complex of Iran's Armed Forces, the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) said here Sunday.
Nasser Zarafshan's wife told ISNA that her husband, lawyer for Mohammad Pouyandeh and Mohammad Mokhtari, had received the summons last week.
However, it is said that Zarafshan was arrested on Sunday.
Earlier on, the Judicial Complex of the Armed Forces had prohibited any revelation on the serial killings which would distort the public opinion.
Nationalist political activist Dariush Forouhar and his wife Parvaneh were assassinated at their residence in late 1998, shortly followed by another three writers Majid Sharif, Mohammad Mokhtari and Mohammad Pouyandeh.
Rogue agents with the Information Ministry were implicated in the killings. Among them was Saeed Emami, believed to be the mastermind of the murders that reportedly committed suicide by clandestinely swallowing a common domestically made depilatory in the prison bath.
The trial begins December 23 at Tehran's Military Court.
