TEHRAN An MP representing the southern city of Lamerd accused the Friday prayer leader there of being behind the two days of clashes between riot police and demonstrators which left dozens of people wounded, press reports said here on Sunday.

In a letter to the Persian daily Jomhouri Eslami, Jalal Mousavi said that for the third straight Friday the prayer leader caused unrest by inciting residents.

Mousavi also rejected reports of clashes carried by Jomhouri Eslami in his constituency, saying they were aroused for partisan gain.
