Iran Bans Import of Raw Livestock Products From Germany

TEHRAN -- Iran's Veterinary Organization said here Monday that following report of the detection of first case of brain wasting bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in Germany, Iran has banned the import of raw livestock products from that country.

It further added that the ban was imposed after the report of the case on November 26 and will be enforced pending investigations by Iranian and international scientific and veterinary organizations.

Iran does not import any raw livestock products from countries which have reported BSE.
