TEHRAN The Center for International Studies at Cambridge University in Britain held a one-day conference on Dialogue Among Civilizations. The conference was cosponsored by London-based Al-Khoei Foundation.

A large number of university students, researchers and writers from different countries participated in the conference on Saturday.

The managing director of the center praised the initiative proposed by the Iranian President and approved by the United Nations, which designated the year 2001 as the Year of Dialogue Among Civilizations.

Another speaker at the conference was Ali Mazrouei, the managing director of the Center for Global Cultural Studies at Binghamton University in New York.

In his address, he said that Samuel Huntington in his theory titled "Clash of Civilizations" which he proposed after the Cold War made a mistake, as the clash of civilizations has been going on for centuries. He added that for the past four centuries, the West has been the main aggressor in this confrontation.
