TEHRAN Four university professors resigned in Istanbul in protest to the ban on Islamic dress code (hijab) after the Theology Department of the Marmara University of Istanbul put a ban on the entry of scarf-wearing students.

According to the Turkish-language newspaper, *** Kit ***, the professors condemned the university Chancellor Zakarya Bayas, for banning the Islamic dress code and submitted their resignations. Bayas was stabbed by a student for his anti-Islamic policies last month.

The Theology Department of the university has been a scene of protests since the beginning of current academic year. The protests were held against ban on Islamic dress code.

According to a student spokesman, most of the scarf-wearing students have not been able to take part in the examinations due to the ban on Islamic dress code.

Analysts say that the anti-Islamic policies of the Turkish government have gained a momentum ever since Ankara strengthened its ties with the Zionist regime.

Absolute majority of Trukey's population are Turks. The situation in Turkey is similar to the pre-revolution era in Iran, one analyst said, adding, banning Islamic dress code or banning such Islamic parties as Refah (Welfare) and Fazilat (Virtue) will backfire. Turkey is like a powder keg now, he said adding, the secularist Trukish rulers may or may not be aware of the situation. What is clear is that such policies will backfire and will land the Trukish rulers in trouble.
