Tax Forms Sent to Woman Dead for Eight Years
April 15, 2001 - 0:0
SINGAPORE Authorities in Singapore have apologized for sending income tax forms to a woman who died eight years ago, it was reported Saturday. The family of Loh Chuan initially thought the inland revenue authority had made a mistake, and that the forms must have been meant for some stranger who shared the same name as their mother, who died in 1993 at the age of 78, the ***Straits Times*** said. Son Zhao said his mother had been a full-time housewife for more than 50 years, and her life centered on her six children. Inland revenue apologized to the family verbally and sent a letter asking them to ignore the forms, Zhao told the newspaper.
