Swimming Against the Stream
Unfortunately certain Arab states, disregarding the massacre of Palestinians at the hands of Zionist forces, are still maintaining their relations with the Zionist entity. When Qatar was to take over the presidency of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) a few months ago, some Islamic countries including Iran and Saudi Arabia announced that they would not take part in the OIC meeting in Doha unless a Zionist diplomatic mission in Qatar operating under the cover of a trade office was closed down.
Although these countries attended the gathering after Qatar promised to close down the office, later it was revealed that the office was still operational in that country.
Qatar, as the current OIC chairman, shoulders the heavy responsibility to promote the cause of Palestine and mobilize international support for the violated rights of oppressed Palestinians. But instead of fulfilling its responsibility toward the Palestinian nation, the Qatari ruler has preferred to maintain relations with the Zionist entity.
Furthermore, Qatar and some other Arab countries are presently leading a campaign to sidetrack the Intifada and bring the Palestinians to the negotiating table with the Zionists. The plan, which is actually the brainchild of the Zionist entity and the pro-Zionist U.S. administration, is aimed at helping Zionists out of political isolation and giving them the maneuvering power to undo the fruits of the Intifada.
However, learning from the experience of the Oslo accords, which the Zionist entity never felt any commitment to honor, the Palestinians now see the Intifada as the only way to regain their violated rights and liberate their homeland from the clutches of Zionist occupiers.
The Qatari and other Arab rulers who have no respect for the rights of Palestinians should bear in the mind that they are acting against the will of over one billion world Muslims. The Intifada is going to succeed, whether they like it or not. Therefore, in order to save their face, they had better avoid swimming against the stream of support for the sacred struggle of Palestinians.
