TEHRAN The official in charge of design and development at the Iranian Fiber-Optic Medical Engineering Center said that for the first time in Iran, patients have been treated through the Internet.

Ezzatollah Almasi added that the ACC instrument, manufactured by fiber-optic industries of Isfahan affiliated to the Defense Ministry, makes it possible for patients to be given medical treatment in special medical centers for vein and cardiac diseases and even in their houses.

One of the advantages of the use of this instrument is that it can decrease the death rate in cases where there is no access to physicians.

Almasi also said that one of the other advantages of using this instrument is that money can be saved that would have been spent on establishing medical centers for cardiac diseases.

He added that the instrument is attached to the chest of the patient with a box called the "patient box" and electronically transmits information to the medical center or physician.

It will be profitable for Iran to manufacture this instrument and export it to other countries.
